Bouldering

Did outdoor bouldering at last! been saying for ages that we wanted to go somewhere outdoors to climb to get a feel of the rocks. today we did!
Got up at 530am... left at 6am... reached Kalamunda at 7ish.
We had 2 safety mats with us... it was an enjoyable experience, minus the flies and the mosquitoes.... there were tonnes! thats the only problem i have with summer. the FLIES come to haunt you.
Someone suggested placing a piece of raw meat some distance away- so as to reduce the amount of flies that cluster around you. haha i doubt that'll work....

Anyways, the boulders are rough... so if u lose your balance and fall down the sides, u get horrible scratches.... like the ones i have on my inner arm.
Oh yes, bouldering requires no rope. its just plain guts and u definately need a crash mat. It's kinda like rocks which are a few feet up from the ground with cracks or finger holds in them. The rock surface is pretty rough, so you can easily smear up (use your foot to step on the almost flat rock). BUt u prolly need good natural rock shoes for that.

It was a good experience, apart from the waking up really early bit. ;p
will post more photos when i get them from my friend... hehe.
