My job
I really love being with my kids (limited schooling kids).... Tdy school was really a joy... =)
I know there will be days i wish i hadn't said that, but i miss them already...
We watched Cat in the Hat by Dr Suess, and did some math and writing exercises.
And i'm glad i have the next month with them =)
Took a class of upper school kids today... all the boys were older, bigger, more vulgar... all the innuendos in their speech (i'm sure you know what i mean- cos i do look young and like a student). But i feel confident, i don't feel afraid or scared of them. They are tall and towering, they probably could throw me across the room easily. Today i told a boy to stop using inappropriate words with me (with a straight face), and he stopped. haha, i was quite firm i think.
Really praying for hearts and minds to be opened...
Will be teaching them next week-- and not limited schooling cos my mentor is going away for a conference for about a week... so i get to teach in other classes with different levels =)

Climb first, work later.
Or was it the other way around??
I soooo miss my beloved sport... withdrawal symptoms are kicking in.
It's just too hard to drag my equipment up the bus and train to get to the rock gym and back.
Poor old scoots will not take the increased weight, plus i need to transport a belayer as well.. =(
Sobs... it'll have to wait for a while....
Meanwhile... some sparkling eye candy for meee.... =p
Me wants.... but so very expensiveeee.... =`(

No place for idols
We usually think of idols in connection with heathenism- idols of pagan faiths. Or maybe in this modern day- making an idol out of a famous singer or actor.
But idols are an expression of a universal tendency- the tendency to put something in the place of God. Anything what becomes a centre of love and attention- a love and attention greater than the love and attention that we give to God- is an idol.
Yes, you can idolise yourself and not even know it.
Idolatry is a substitution- the substitution of the lesser for the greater.
There is nothing more subtle or worse than Christian idolatry- that is, when we don't go as far as to reject God; we simply put something else at the centre and God is then marginalized. There we can only let him influence our lives faintly- and the result is weakness and immaturity.
Divided loyalties?
We cannot serve 2 masters.

pounding!
I am actually seeing a building fall apart before my eyes... They are doing major works over on the buildings next to the Biological sciences library and the building was shaking! haha... so now i'm watching as this big, huge machine takes the old white building to pieces. The bricks crumble like the flakes of the flimsy cookies that fall on ur lap as you eat. Man, this is quite therapeutic. Seeing something torn down.
Doesn't sound right. haha.

Body Wrap
You know how when you go for an all day spa, they give you a body wrap (either in some seaweed or honey milk mixture?)
Well, my phone went for a 90 mins wrap. It's now scratch proof and water proof.
I have to say it was really worth it, i love the design cos it's unique and it stands out!
Try it whilst it's $29!There are tons of patterns and designs to choose from ....
heard prices are going to increase =p

girly things
Thanks for the flowers babe! =) they bloomed (under my care, i might add)! The others haven't fully opened yet! so i'll still see them for a week or so!! =) they're lovely, brightening up my dark week.
I've also put a picture up of a dress i tried on sunday in the city... see the tag hanging out? you DO NOT want to know the price. Thus i didn't buy it, and it's not practical-- i wldn't wear it often even if i did buy it (which is NOT going to happen because of the above mentioned reasons). But it was so nice, i wanted to bring a 'piece' of it home with me =) so there... so silly. =p

The Battle Within!
For the past 2 years, spidey movies have been released within a week of my birthday. I do feel it's apt that the producers and that Hollywood as an industry considered my intense feelings- since Spidey is and will always be, my favourite super hero.
Well, i like him not cos of the fact that he's agile, has a great sense of humour (very important for a super hero!) and can swing from building to building. Not to mention his spidey sense- very handy, this one! I like how he is human and fallible. Like how he can lose his powers when he lacks a sense of meaning and purpose of why he has powers in the first place. (reminds me of the parable of talents-"For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him." Matt 25:29) i like the use it or lose it imagery! haha.
Well, spidey 3 is encapsulated by "The battle within"=) sounds quite like the battle between spirit and flesh in the bible as well!
i like that phrase, and i'm quite excited to watch the film!
Always... Continually... Give thanks.
Gratitude for Ungrateful Days
by Max Lucado
“Always be joyful. Pray continually, and give thanks whatever happens. That is what God wants for you in Christ Jesus” I Thessalonians 5:16-18 NCV
Look at the totality of those terms. Always be joyful. Pray continually. Give thanks whatever happens. Learn a lesson from Sidney Connell. When her brand-new bicycle was stolen, she called her dad with the bad news. He expected his daughter to be upset. But Sidney wasn’t crying. She was honored. “Dad,” she boasted, “out of all the bikes they could have taken, they took mine.”
Make gratitude your default emotion, and you’ll find yourself giving thanks for the problems of life. Need spice in your day? Thank God for every problem that comes down the pike. Is any situation so dire that gratitude is eliminated? Some of the ladies at the Women of Faith Conference thought it was. This great organization fills arenas with women, and women with hope. The president, Mary Graham, told me about one particular weekend in which a shortage of space tested everyone’s patience.
The floor had 150 fewer seats than needed. The arena staff tried to solve the problem by using narrow chairs. As a result, every woman had a place to sit, but everyone was crowded. Complaints contaminated like feedlot fragrance. Mary asked Joni Eareckson Tada, a speaker for the evening, if she could calm the crowd. Joni was perfectly qualified to do so. A childhood diving accident had left her wheelchair-bound. The attendants rolled her onto the platform, and Joni addressed the unhappy crowd. “I understand some of you don’t like the chair in which you are sitting. Neither do I. But I have about a thousand handicapped friends who would gladly trade places with you in an instant.”
The grumbling ceased.
Yours can too.
Impossible, you say? How do you know? How do you know until you give every day a chance?

Teary eyed...
After a long day at Balga for pract... i came home to 3 beautiful cards =) Such a precious reminder of love! Came home @4pm dreading the fact that i have to get my butt over to the library for my shift later at 5pm, but i was soooo drawn to tears by the birthday cards!! *such a softie i am* Thanks mom, dad, josh, jon and Gu ma! i love receiving and reading cards! Am so so touched.... the last thing on my mind this week is that my birthday is coming.... So much work, programs to be written, teaching logs to be filled in, reflection journals to be handed in... But the reminder that i'm above all of this.... the reminder that i may feel pressured cos of workload, but i'm not overwhelmed nor does my identity or security come from by performance. Such is the beauty of being a child of God.
Colossians 3:23-24
" Whatever you do, do your work heartily as for the Lord rather than for men."
My boss is Jesus... Amen!
